A Beginner’s Guide to Mom Makeup
I used to think that everyday mom makeup was pointless. It either didn’t do enough to make a difference or it made me feel like a completely different person (and not in a good way); it certainly wasn’t worth all the time it took.
I mean, sure, makeup had its place in my life, like going out for date night or dressing nice for church, but that was about it. It wasn’t until I realized how much I had lost myself over the years of being a wife and mother that I started to change my thinking. Then I found some products which were quick, were easy, and made me feel good while still feeling like myself.
My entire world changed.
Okay, maybe not my entire world, but a pretty decent chunk of it. When you suddenly start remembering you are beautiful after years and years of believing otherwise, that’s a pretty big deal. Well, I’m here to remind you of this truth: YOU are beautiful and YOU are worth taking a few minutes of your day to highlight that.
What is Mom Makeup?
Mom’s give their all. It’s in the job description. You give, and give, and give. But what if, for just a few moments, you put yourself first?
Mom makeup simplifies the busy woman’s makeup routine. It allows her the freedom to live life outside of the bathroom and gives her the confidence to know she is uniquely beautiful. It’s a statement that she is worth the time and she can have it all.
It’s hard, isn’t it? How often we believe that to best serve our family we must give everything we have! But hear me when I say this: intentionally making small efforts to enrich yourself will also enrich all those around you. You are not selfish. In just a few minutes each day, you will find a little self-care only magnifies the all you have to give.
How to Get Started
Look in the mirror. Really look. Now, tell yourself these two things: I am beautiful and I am worth it. Did you do it? I mean it! Stop reading and look in the mirror. Affirm the truth of your beauty. Only then can you discover if there are products that might be right for you. I don’t mean something that’s going to cover you up, but just touches that will emphasize your unique features. Remarkably subtle techniques will show off what is already there.
If that sounds intimidating (because it did to me! Have you seen that makeup aisle?!), then let me assure you, it doesn’t have to be. Imagine this: no more giant bags and totes filled with individual containers of concealer, BB cream, foundation, blush, highlighter, contour, bronzer, setting powder, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. No more trying to determine if you should use “Color Me Ghostly” or “Fell Asleep in the Tanning Bed.” I’m talking about simplifying, so all your makeup… for your entire face… fits in one customized compact.
I can help you. I want to help you. After first learning to help myself and then helping many other women like me, I’m confident I can help you too. Just send me a snapshot of yourself, and we can start this journey together.
